Weekend Masses

All of our Masses are now on a First Come First Served basis. From Monday 9th August, physical distancing is no longer required. However, it is still necessary to wear a face covering and provide your details for track and trace.


Father Joseph McGill

Congratulations to Fr. Joseph McGill who was ordained a priest on Tuesday 6th July. We are looking forward to welcoming the newly ordained Fr McGill to the Parish as Assistant Priest in August. A great joy for St Laurence's, Greenock, and Inverclyde. Please keep Fr Joe in your prayers as he offers his whole life as a Priest of Jesus Christ. 


Bishop John Visit

Bishop John will visit St Laurence's on Sunday 15th August at the 10am Mass to mark the Feast of the Assumption and to join us in welcoming Fr Joe McGill to the Parish.


Carfin Day
The annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Carfin, led by Bishop John Keenan, will take place on Sunday 29 th August. Mass of Anointing of the Sick at 3pm followed by the Rosary Procession at 5.30pm. Catering facilities are available at the shrine.


Altar Servers
Altar Servers are welcome to return to their Sunday Mass duties if they wish, and with parent’s permission – at the moment there may not be a lot of tasks, but the help of
Servers is always appreciated. Please speak to Fr Eoin.


Mrs Patricia Coleman R.I.P.

Please pray for the happy eternal rest of Mrs Patricia Coleman, Fr Andrew's mother, who died during the week (first week of August), and for the consolation and support of Fr Andrew and his family.


Course to Qualify as a RE Specialist

If you are a qualified teacher at primary or secondary level you could take an advanced qualification as a RE specialist. The University of Glasgow is offering a course for the year 21/22. A grant of £400 is available in two instalments from the Diocese for teachers resident in the Diocese who attend monthly diocesan seminars to support completion of their assignments. Confessions

Confessions are available after Saturday Morning Mass in the Sacristy. 


Saint Vincent de Paul Society

Please note that even under these difficult circumstances and restrictions, the members of St Vincent de Paul Society are still ready and willing and available to help out. Although they are not available after Masses as normal, they can be contacted on 07725 098588.


Lourdes 2021

Please note that the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in 2021 has been postponed until June 2022; this is a matter of deep regret as the shrine at Lourdes means so much to so many. If you were booked for 2020 the travel agent will be in touch to confirm the rescheduling for 2022 and to carry over any payments.


Western Catholic Calendar 2021

The Calendar which contains information on all parishes and Mass times in the Dioceses of Paisley, Motherwell and Glasgow, is now available from the stall priced £3.20.


Teacher Approval

Please note that Fr Joe Burke, the Vicar General, now oversees the approval process for teachers in Catholic Schools. Applications and references for posts in the three local authorities within the Diocese should be sent to Rev Joseph Burke, Teacher Approval, Diocesan Centre, Cathedral Precincts, Incle Street, Paisley PA1 1HR email approvals@rcdop.org.uk If you are going to be applying for approval soon please speak to Fr Eoin.


Foodbank

The St Laurence’s Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society are trying to get back to as normal a routine as possible. They would like to restart the Foodbank scheme where you can leave any tinned or dried foodstuffs for those who need them. We will have a box in the porch where donations to the Foodbank can be left.


Online Marriage Counselling

The Diocese has a Counselling Service for married Catholics and a dedicated Marriage Counsellor. If you are concerned about your relationship, especially in these times of Covid, you may benefit from counselling. The Counsellor is there to maintain a neutral, non-judgemental position.
